POLSKOŚĆ is the Polish word for Polishness. This concept expresses the desire to preserve the identity, culture and heritage associated with Poland.

POLSKOŚĆ sounds pol-sko-ch-tch. If you can successfully sneeze this word, you are officially a proud member of the enlarged Polonia community.

Today, approximately 20 million people of Polish ancestry without Polish citizenship are living outside Poland. They form part of Polonia, the Polish communities outside Poland that includes emigrants from Poland and their descendants who maintain connection with Polish identity, culture or heritage.

Our Książyk Family is one of them. Half of our family lives in Poland, while the other half is spread across the United States, France, Germany and many other countries, including Iceland and Brazil. For many of our families, leaving Poland was a painful decision, followed by the challenges of building a new life abroad.

Whatever passport we carry and whatever language we speak, we all share something in common: a deep sense of pride that comes from a great country shaped by generations of hard-working people. We hope this community website will inspire other families to rediscover, preserve and pass on their POLSKOŚĆ to future generations.

„Polskość nie jest ubiorem narodowym, lecz jest to wieczny wysiłek twórczy, rodzący się z głębi duszy. »

« Polishness is not a national costume, but rather an eternal creative effort born from the depths of the soul. »
