ABOUT

Over the decade 2015-2025, a previous community website KSIAZYK has enabled many Ksiazyk Families to reconnect across borders and beyond oceans. Through that this digital link, abstract family trees suddenly have transformed into living, breathing relationships. For the descendants of the Ksiazyk who left Poland, the journey back is always an emotional pilgrimage to find the missing pieces of the family story.

Cousins have met to bridge a five-generations gap. Grand-parents have shared lost memories over sepia photographies. From this experience, we remember how a blurry face on a photo kept recovered a name in a small Polish village. We also remember the incredible resemblance of two cousins who shared a common ancestor born in 1824.

We have closed the previous website with the satisfaction of a mission accomplished. For many families, Ksiazyk is no longer just a name on an American ship manifest but a global network rooted deeply in the soil of the Polish homeland. We have built family bond resilient enough to survive any distance.

Now, as the older generation passes away, the urge to remember grows stronger. With this new website POLSKOŚĆ, we want to go beyond a narrow circle of a family community. We want to turn our initiative into an opportunity to promote Polish values, culture and traditions. We encourage the scattered Polish diaspora to hand a complete, unbroken story down to the next generation.
