1921
Easter 1921. A profound sense of peace and sacred tradition finally settles over the Warsaw home. Outside, a harsh post-war hyperinflation grips the city, but inside, the home smells of sweet sugar and spices. The traditional Sunday feast is made possible by survival supplies smuggled from the family farm. This Saturday evening, the family is gathering for Święconka, the blessing of the Easter meal. Cousin Stas, a young deacon just one year away from the priesthood is there to give his benediction. The kids are proudly assisting, completely captivated by the solemn magic of the ritual.
