1910
In 1910 the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald against the Teutonic Order became a patriotic manifestation in Poland. At this time (and until 1918), the country was partitioned and occupied by Austrian, German, and Russian powers. The celebration of the Grunwald Victory was a powerful catalyst for Polish national identity and a unified protest against the occupying empires. Since 1410, this event has been a milestone in the History of the Polish Nation.
