Lituania 1811. In the old country manor of Soplicowo, the kitchen is busy in the early morning. The kawiarka is a servant dedicated entirely to preparing coffee. She carefully chooses the best green coffee beans before roasting them to perfection. Next, grinding the back beans is the most delicate step to preserve the best possible aroma. This rich nectar will be served with the freshest, thickest cream. Soon, the warm smell of coffee fills the halls. The kawiarka is ready to serve a drink as black as coal and as thick as amber. But before she does, she cannot resist stopping to listen to the patriotic tune played by the old chiming clock.
